What Concentrates Are and How They Are Made
Concentrates are cannabis products made by separating the most desirable compounds—cannabinoids and terpenes—from raw plant material. The result is a product with a much higher potency than flower, often reaching 60 to 90 percent in total cannabinoid content. At Yo Dispo, we stock concentrates that are selected for both their chemical profile and the quality of the plants they come from, which starts with the top-shelf genetics that define everything we carry.
The extraction process determines the final texture, flavor, and strength of each product. Solvent-based methods use substances such as butane, propane, or carbon dioxide to pull the active compounds from the plant. Solventless methods rely on heat, pressure, water, or agitation to achieve a similar separation without chemical carriers. Each approach produces a different kind of concentrate, and understanding the method helps you choose a product that matches what you want from the experience.
Types of Concentrates We Carry
The concentrate category covers a wide range of textures and consistencies, and each type behaves differently when you use it. The differences come from how the extract is processed after extraction, how much it is agitated, and the temperature and moisture conditions during curing. Below are the main forms you will find on our shelves.
- Shatter: a glass-like, brittle concentrate that snaps when broken. It is prized for its clarity and stable cannabinoid content.
- Wax and budder: a softer, opaque texture created through whipping or agitation during processing, which makes it easy to handle.
- Live resin: made from fresh-frozen plant material to preserve the full terpene profile, giving it a strong aroma and flavor.
- Rosin: a solventless concentrate produced with heat and pressure, popular with those who want a product made without chemical solvents.
- Diamonds and sauce: crystalline cannabinoid structures suspended in a terpene-rich liquid, delivering both high potency and bold flavor.
- Hash and kief: traditional concentrates made by collecting and compressing trichomes, offering a classic, time-tested option.
Because each form has its own character, we keep a varied inventory so you can match a concentrate to your preferred method of use. Our staff can walk you through the practical differences, such as which textures are easier to measure and which ones hold flavor longest after opening.
Ways to Use Concentrates
Concentrates are versatile, and the method you choose affects both the intensity and the flavor of the session. Dabbing is one of the most common methods, where a small amount of concentrate is vaporized on a heated surface and inhaled. This approach delivers a fast, strong effect and preserves terpene flavor when the temperature is controlled correctly. Low-temperature dabs favor flavor, while higher temperatures produce larger, more immediate vapor.
Vaporizer pens and cartridges offer a more discreet and portable option. These devices are filled with distillate or live resin and heat the concentrate to a precise temperature, which makes them simple to use without extra equipment. Many people also add concentrates to flower in a bowl or joint to increase potency. Whichever method you prefer, we carry a large range of accessories, so you can find everything you’re looking for in a single trip. From dab tools and bangers to batteries and storage containers, the equipment you need is available alongside the products themselves.
Reading the Technical Details
Every concentrate carries lab information that tells you what is inside, and learning to read these details helps you make a confident choice. The total cannabinoid percentage shows overall strength, while the breakdown of individual cannabinoids such as THC and CBD indicates the balance of effects you can expect. Terpene percentages describe the aroma and flavor, and they also influence the character of the experience through the way these compounds interact with cannabinoids.
Testing data also confirms safety. Reputable concentrates are screened for residual solvents, pesticides, and other contaminants, which matters especially for solvent-based products. At Yo Dispo, we focus on products that meet these standards so you can trust what you take home. If you are unsure how to interpret a label, ask us—we are happy to explain the numbers and help you select a concentrate that fits your goals, whether that is strong flavor, high potency, or a balanced profile.
